Jahri Evans is beginning his 5th year as the starting OG for the NFL's New Orleans Saints. Evans was part of the foundation of an offensive front that surrendered the fewest sacks in the NFL in 2007. The aggressive young guard has been a fixture in the lineup since his arrival as a fourth-round pick in 2006, taking over a starting spot in training camp and starting every game of his NFL career. Evans' accolades during his NFL career include: 2006-Pro Football Weekly/PFWA All-Rookie Team, and the 2006 Dallas Morning News All-Rookie Team.
A left tackle at Bloomsburg, the hard-working Evans made a rapid transition to the NFL because of his maturity, showing quick feet and a polished technique in pass protection and strength at the point of attack in clearing openings for the running game. Evans enjoyed a stellar career as an offensive lineman at Bloomsburg University.
He was a finalist for the Division II Gene Upshaw Offensive Player of the Year Award in each of final two seasons. Evans anchored the Bloomsburg offensive line at Left Tackle after taking over as the starter as a sophomore. He was a 3-time All-American and attained numerous other post-season honors throughout his collegiate career. In 2005 he graded over 85 percent for blocking consistency. During his junior year he had 88 knockdowns with 10 TD-resulting blocks.
